There is this Christmas children’s song I used to sing a lot when I was small:
“Christmas is coming
Baba buy shoe for me
Oyaya oyaya oyaya”
NB: Please don’t laugh too much at this testimony. It’s funny, but it means a lot to me, please respect my feelings.
I don’t know who remembers it but I really loved it then. I would remove the shoe part and continue to sing it interchanging the shoe for anything I wanted. I would go on and on singing by faith. I’d sing until I was tired or came to the reality of getting nothing, not even the shoe for Christmas. The funny thing is, as far as that song is concerned, Baba never got new shoes for me on Christmas. As a matter of fact, I came from a church that didn’t believe in Christmas. So each Christmas, it was better to just park well and don’t give yourself any hopes at all, so sad right? Anyways, after over a decade of singing that song faithfully, something miraculous has happened.
Last week, I just remembered that song you know, and just started singing it, remembering all those childhood years. Then it occurred to me that no one actually ever bought me new shoes as far as Christmas was concerned. I laughed and continued singing the song. Please note that as at last week, I actually needed new shoes in my heart, but of course I’m an adult now and by His grace, I have the financial capacity to buy myself new shoes.
To cut the short story long, three days before Christmas, my eldest brother gave me his new shoes. Guess what? They were his very special wedding shoes alongside others. I just couldn’t believe it, my fairy tale song of baba buying new shoes for me (which never happened), after over two decades, has come to pass. I mean, they are just shoes right? But no, they actually aren’t, they are a dream come true. It’s a miracle and God is the master mind behind it. This means a lot to me Lord and I will always continue to love YOU.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:27
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”
Don’t ever underestimate the power of your words and dreams, no matter how hilarious, unrealistic and non-significant they might be. For example, imagine singing “Christmas is coming, Baba buy shoe for me, oyaya oyaya oyaya” and God answers in a very special way. Who will give you his very new wedding shoes? No matter the worth and design of any other set of shoes I’ll ever buy in life, they’ll never beat the significance of this very set of shoes.
It is written that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that I ask or think, according to the power that is at work in me (Ephesians 3:20). This means that you must never underestimate yourself, your dreams and wishes, God is able, no matter how unrealistic or unachievable your dreams are.
It’s not too late, you can still make your Christmas and New Year wishes. No matter what, just pour out your heart to God, have faith and give Him thanks in all things. He is very able and just to put a smile on your face.
Here’s wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas in arrears and an Extremely Happy New Year in advance.
Cheers and God bless you infinitely!!!
