Sometimes I just don’t understand how a matter would be very clear, and yet everybody except you won’t see the truth and judge rightly. And then they’ll all turn the attention to you as the enemy and the one at fault; and you just want to go crazy. Well, I always go crazy especially when dealing with close relations whom I can easily express my hurt and hot displeasure against. The worst is how people just open their mouths and start judging, finding faults and talking nonsense, while they have huge beams in their own eyes (Matthew 7:3). But the moment you utter one word of truth judging them, you become the centre of attention. Am I perfect? I am far from it by my works! But me I go yan, I go speak my mind, this religious nonsense is just getting out of hand.

JudgingIt’s just sad watching how Christianity has turned into something else. Nobody (leaving only a few), judges rightly, nobody would say the truth, everybody is just operating based on sentiments and not righteous judgment. Nobody cares to see things from the other person’s perspective, nobody cares how the other man feels. Nobody cares what the other man is going through. Nobody wants to hear the other side of the story. You help the thieves and ingrates and oppress the poor who have genuinely tried their best to survive. Selfish beings! Everyday, the whole Jesus and the scribes & Pharisees story line is played out in the churches, on the streets, at work places, in homes, everywhere. People who claim self righteousness but are never close to it. They lie in wait for you to fall and then if you do, they do everything in their power to ensure that you never rise up again (Luke 11:53-54). Then they go back to church, pay tithes and offerings, and say Jesus is Lord. That is why Jesus told them in Luke 11:42,

“woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.”

Are people not allowed to make mistakes again? Are people not allowed to express their feelings and emotions again? You provoke me with your lies and false judgments and I am not allowed to flare-up and express my hot displeasure? Then when I do, you call me a devil? You say I am a fake Christian? The day I stop getting displeased and angry at wickedness and false judgments is the day I know I am over. Don’t tell me to calm down! I can’t even afford to share any of my faults with so-called Christians because the first thing they’ll do is judge and use my secrets against me in future; whereas, the Bible encourages us to confess our faults to one another, and pray for each other (James 5:16). Instead of us to watch each other’s back, we are rather setting traps, seeking to pull the other down; whereas the Bible is very clear on this matter telling us to have fervent love among ourselves above all things, because love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).

Judging othersEven Jesus whom ye claim to be your Lord and saviour has admonished us not to judge according to appearance but to judge righteous judgment (John 7:24). There is nothing wrong in correcting one another’s faults, but in love. There is also nothing wrong in overreacting while correcting based on the gravity of the offence. We are humans, we are prone to error and sometimes our emotions get a hold of us. The earlier we start judging rightly, being empathic, trying to see things from each other’s eyes, the better our experience as members of the body of Christ. Paul said “Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.” If we truly practiced these things, there won’t be division in the body of Christ today, which is divided into so many strange parts, that joining them together would be disastrous. It will look absolutely nothing like Christ. When one church alone cannot even live in peace and harmony among themselves, how much more the whole body.

If people weren’t to sin and make mistakes, then why did Jesus die for sins? Even in the days of Moses, God made provisions for their sins, not to talk of the onetime provision and sacrifice for all our sins (1 John 2:2). Who then are you to make another person feel bad because he sinned or made a mistake? There is no place where Jesus saved anybody by judging and condemning, no place in the Bible (John 12:47)!

As a critic, I battled against the urge to judge others for years, but the Bible is very clear on these things, and I’ve seen the difference between judging by appearance and righteous judgment. For every time you judge, you will be judged. For every time you condemn, you will be condemned. The last person who tried to judge me wrongly forgot that she had a pile of cockroaches in her own cupboard, and she must be regretting why she opened her mouth against me, especially falsely. I am human, I make mistakes, I even orchestrate sin, and I have also sinned wilfully. Which sin is not wilful? But I am forgiven because Christ died for me and is my advocate, propitiation and high priest before the Father. I try everyday to be a better Christian. I deal with my weaknesses by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, because his strength is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). I move on easily, because his grace is sufficient for me (2 Corinthians 12:9) and the handwriting of the ordinances against me has been erased and nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14). Think twice before judging me and others next time. You might just be on a looong thing, seeking for Christ in the tomb when he is risen.

Me I go yan, I go speak my mind, e no finish…

Cheers and God bless you infinitely!!!
