There is much more to this life than living or dying or just trying to make it through the day. Millions of people are more today oriented and never future oriented. Very few think about the consequences of actions taken, very few understand that life is not all about making money and having children, and having all the qualifications on this planet earth. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t work, or be wealthy, or have children, or taste all the sweetness of life; all I am saying is you need to start looking beyond all that and start recognizing the fact that life doesn’t stop here. When you die, what happens to all the wealth, fame, fortune, women, etc.? Of course, you are taking nothing with you; you are now on your own (OYO lowa).

The Rich Fool
Let us look at the parable of the rich fool. Here, Jesus was explaining the futility of life. Luke 12:13-23 says:

“And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:  And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.”

The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. A man’s life doesn’t consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses. This simply proves to us that there is more to this life. The rich man’s soul was required of him that night. He was very rich, he was very successful and highly favoured, the ground brought forth plentifully unto him, and he just hit the jackpot. He started thinking and imagining foolish thoughts, how great he had become, how wealthy he was; he said to himself “take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry”, but God said “Thou fool”.

A lot of us are replicas of the rich fool, we are highly favoured, wealthy, brilliant, scholars; but the question is; how are you glorifying God with what He has given you? How are you propagating the word of God? How many lives are you touching positively with your wealth? God is asking you tonight; when your soul is required of you, whose shall those things be, which you have provided?

You need to assess yourself today and honestly determine where you fall in. Are you in the category of the rich fool, or are you in the category of those who are rich toward God? You can find out by answering these questions:

1.       Who am I really?
2.       What have I achieved here on earth?
3.       What have I done with my wealth, my talents and my life?
4.       How many lives have I touched positively?
5.       Am I achieving or have I achieved God’s purpose for my life here on earth?
6.       If I die now, where are my heading to; Heaven or Hell?
7.       Can I boldly say that if I die now or if Christ comes right now, that I will make heaven?

You must sit down and critically answer these questions honestly.  If you cannot give a positive answer to all these questions, then, there is serious trouble. I want you to know that there is more to this life that we are living in. Think about it and decide where and how you want to end up, in Heaven or in Hell, but whether we like it or not we all must die and go and face judgment based on how we lived our lives on earth. Do not be caught unawares.

The Way Out
Luke 12:31 says:

“But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Our Lord Jesus Christ has given us the wisest choice to make. It is not our portion to be poor or to suffer, God is telling us that all we need to do is to serve Him and live our lives for Him; and wealth, joy, peace, all other things shall be added unto us, most importantly, Heaven.
Moreover, if you haven’t yet accepted Christ into your life, you need to do that today, lest God requires your soul from you. Now just imagine if you just happen not to be born with a silver spoon and have suffered and struggled all your life, imagine what it would be like, suffering here on earth and then going to hell and suffer for all eternity. If you are willing to accept Christ, please say this prayer after me:

“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the evils I have done both knowingly and unknowingly, consciously and unconsciously. I forsake all my evil ways, have mercy on me o Lord, forgive me, come into my life even as I surrender all to you, write my name in the book of life. Thank you Lord Jesus, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Cheers and God bless you infinitely!!!
